5	Incompatibility	The bisulphites of alkaline earth metals are less soluble and their sulphites are insoluble . Only alkali metal salts are soluble .
6	Uses	i)                    Sodium Metabisulphite is a strong reducing agent and is used as antioxidant in pharmaceutical preparation . ii)                   It is used as a preservatives in acidic solutions and syrups .
7	Side Effect	Ingestion of metasulphide causes gastric irritation . Large dosage causes gastrointestinal upsets ., respiratory or circulatory failure and central nervous system disturbance .
8	Storage	It is stored in airtight container .
