Uses
i)                    It is used internally as antacid .
ii)                   T is used internally as lime water in infantile diarrhoea and vomiting .
iii)                 Lime water is added to milk to prevent formation of large clots of curd to increase digestibility .
iv)                 Lime water is added in some lotions and in oily preparations to form calcium soap of fatty – acid which produce water in emulsions .
v)                  Calcium hydroxide pastes are used in dentistry .
vi)                  Calcium hydroxide is also used as presticide as egg preservatives and dehairing hides .
vii)               Calcium hydroxide is used in betel leaves for chewing  as astringent .
viii)              Calcium hydroxide is used as mild antacid to neutralize gastric acid .
ix)                 Calcium hydroxide acts as a source of calcium .
x)                  Calcium is used medicinally as a  fluid electrolyte and a topical astringent .
xi)                 Soda lime , prepared by combination of calcium hydroxide and sodium hydroxide , is used  for its ability to absorb Co2 from expired air in metabolic function test .
